Did you know that fast food restaurants and their customers take advantage of employee's ?According to Eric Schlosser the author of the book Fast Food Nation, fast food restaurant hire the weak minded because it is easier to take control of them, they would work for low wages and they are less expensive to hire. I think that it isn't fair that fast foods restaurant treat their employees with out respect because they don't stand up for themselves, they shouldn't take advantage of their employees. I believe that many of these issues still go on in our society today and needs to be changed.
Fast Food restaurants continue to take advantage of young employees. According to text "the bonuses of Taco Bell restaurant managers were tried to their success at cutting labor costs. The managers had devised a number of creative ways to do so".What this quote mean is that many of the supervisors who work for Taco Bell were rewarded with bonuses because they were able to find effective ways in reducing the amount of money spent on employees. For example within the the story it stated how the employees who worked for Taco Bell shift did not start until the restaurant was full of customers. The employees were also obligated to clean the restaurant on their free time. They were also paid with food and not with wages. most of these employees who were taken advantage of were usually minors and immigrants. This shows that fast food restaurants preyed on the young and on immigrants who did not know any better that as employees they should have been treated better.
Working in fast food restaurants can be hassle and very stressful.According to the text "many customers look down on fast food workers and feel entitled to treat them with disrespect".What this quote means is that the customers of fast food restaurants usually feel that the employees are inferior and because of this they may act abusive towards them. This was very evident in chapter 3 page 75 where a teen named Elisa who was inspired to work in McDonald's since she was a toddler, but once she got the job she began to despise such an occupation. This was because of the many rude encounters she experienced with customers. For instance she was bombarded with many complaints and rude remarks from her customers or constantly yelled for the food taking to long. I have never worked as an employee for fast food restaurants but I have witnessed many horrible acts of disrespect towards employee's in McDonald's.For instance while I was waiting on the line to order my lunch in McDonald's when a woman had walked up to the front of the line yelling at one of the employees because they forgot to add pickles to her big mac. She said to the employee " No wonder you work at McDonald's, you cant even get a simple order right, you lowlife, dumb bitch!". When I heard this statement I was in complete shock that a person could be so rude to their own kind. This shows that the employees of fast food restaurant go through a lot on a daily basis just for doing their job, also customers have no respect for the employees.
As you can see, in the story Fast Food Nation it expresses how employees are often treated unfairly by the customers and the managers. It also shows readers that many supervisors within the fast food restaurants take advantage of customers by lowering labor costs and creating bogus rules on how the employees should conduct themselves while working. The story also place emphasis on how employees are treated poorly by their customers day in and day out. They are yelled at, get complaints and rude remarks that are usually unjustified by the customers. It very clear that how things work in fast food restaurants should be revolutionized. The employees should be payed appropriately, they should be treated with respect by customers and also should feel safe while working.

I Love Cooking and Eating Healthy Meals Blog#2
Cooking food and eating healthy is very important to me so I try to stay away from fast food. I usually eat subway flat bread sandwiches or eat baked chicken with sweet potato, Caesar salad and with a green shake for a beverage,I add Spanish,Strawberries,Banana,Pear and Mango. I don't eat healthy all the time because I have cheat days.On the weekend I'll have cake, doughnuts, apple pie and all sorts of fatty foods you can think of. On the weekdays I go back to eating healthy because I want to stay healthy and fit.
I eat in the evening at home or go to a restaurant after a good work out. I tend to eat whenever I am bored. I know it bad but it's fine because I snack on good stuff like almond nuts, peanuts and nature valley bars.I have a bad habit of eating late at night around one o'clock and that is the time when I snack on the unhealthy treats like Oreo and chocolate chip cookies, cake or whatever I can get my hands on.
I love to cook when ever i had free time .I like to cook chicken breast, tilapia, steamed vegetables and brown rice. I cook because I want to eat lean as possible so I can have a good source of protein so and gain muscles mass.I try to stay away from fatty foods like McDonald and Burger King although I do love eating whoppers.Eating is my favorite thing to do and I love trying new healthy food from different cultures.
During New Years my family eats a pumpkin soup called "Soup Joumou". Haitians eat Soup Joumou because Haiti was the very first country to break free from slavery. Since Haitians were not able to eat soup during slavery, once they gained freedom on January 1st they made eating soup a tradition on this day.Soup Joumou is very delicious yet very healthy since it contains a mixture of vegetables and vitamin A from the pumpkin.

Is America's Food Supply Safe? Blog#1
Did you know that the F.D.A makes sure that our food is safe? According to Dr.David Acheson who is a Assistant Commissioner for food protection, he say's that Americans have the safest food supplies in the world, The F.D.A is always working to protect our food from bacterial and chemical contamination, also the F.D.A have 625 investigators all over the country who inspect our food supply. I think that the F.D.A is truly doing a good job looking over our food supply and they should keep up the good work, I respect them for looking out for our safety.
The F.D.A works hard everyday to make sure our food supply is safe.According to the article "if we suspect any food is unsafe we work to catch problems early,we try to find out how the problem started, fix it and prevent it from happening again".What this quote means is that the F.D.A will make sure the food is safe and if it isn't the F.D.A will fix it and make sure it wont happen again. For example, when I went to a restaurant called Topaz that didn't have a inspection grade yet, while I was eating a meal I saw a mice running and eating the food that was just cooked and on display. The employees were in the back room and I also noticed a lot of mice feces all over the floor. The restaurant was clearly filthy and unsafe to eat at.Weeks later the restaurant was closed down,so I asked the owner of the restaurant why is the restaurant closed and he said "the F.D.A agents are fixing the rodent problem ".The next following week I went to the restaurant and I saw a huge change, the restaurant was very clean. I saw no mice feces on the floor, it was spotless and it looked like a safe place to eat at now.The restaurant now had a grade "A" for inspection. This show's that the F.D.A fixed the rodent problem and they prevented it from happening again for our protection.
The F.D.A makes sure that the food from different countries is safe when coming to the U.S. According to the article "The F.D.A has inspectors at our borders to prevent unsafe food exported to the U.S meet our standards".What this quote mean is that the F.D.A has food standards and if the food from other counties don't meet the standards it can not enter the U.S grounds. For example I have not experienced this but I have a perfect example.I was watching a documentary about food and the there was part when the U.S was picking up food supply from Brazil, such as tons of sacks of rice and green plantains. The rice met the U.S standards but the plantains didn't. The plantains weren't fresh they were either moldy, partly open or had animal bite marks on them. In the documentary about food the F.D.A gathered all the food and stated to inspect them. If it wasn't good it was thrown out and if it was fresh it was allowed to pass the border and enter U.S grounds to be sold at local groceries stores. This shows that the F.D.A doesn't want poor quality food form other countries to enter the U.S grounds but if it meets the U.S standards it is accepted to enter the U.S for our safety
In conclusion the F.D.A is concern with our food safety and they want us to have the best quality food supply possible and they are trying to do their best. They have a lot of F.D.A agents around the border looking out for our safety. Therefore we have nothing t worry about since our food supply is n great condition.
