Organic food vs Processed food
People should ditch processed food and switch to organic food if they want to have a healthier lifestyle . According to helpguide Organic food "refers to the way agricultural products are grown and processed. Specific requirements must be met and maintained in order for products to be labeled as "organic".
Organic crops must be grown in safe soil, have no modifications, and must remain separate from conventional products. Farmers are not allowed to use synthetic pesticides, bioengineered genes (GMOs), petroleum-based fertilizers, and sewage sludge-based fertilizers.
Organic livestock must have access to the outdoors and be given organic feed. They may not be given antibiotics, growth hormones, or any animal-by-products". Processed food is food that are already to eat for example like canned and frozen food and it is also package food that are sometimes labeled as natural or organic food. I think that not all processed food are bad but most of them are and organic food are not harmful to people at all because everything is all natural and people should really consider eating organic food and stay away from processed food.
Some processed are bad because they have lack of nutrients and there aren't fresh and it is definitely good for your diet. Processed food are everywhere every corner you turn there is Processed food. Processed food is also known as "Junk food" like fast food restaurants. There are a few things that fast food can cause like Obesity, Diabetes, Cancer and etc. The reason why processed food cause Obesity is because a lot of people are eating a lot of junk food that have a lot of fat and carbs and their are not healthier food restaurants you can choose from because it is everywhere and Processed foods can last a long time on the shelf without going bad and it is cheaper faster to get. Why processed food is linked to obesity “ Processed foods are virtually guaranteed to contain additives that are linked to obesity. This includes monosodium glutamate (MSG), high-fructose corn syrup, artificial sweeteners and more. Plus, refined carbohydrates like breakfast cereals, bagels, waffles, pretzels, and most other processed foods quickly break down to sugar., This increases your insulin and leptin levels, and contribute to insulin resistance, which is the primary underlying factor of nearly every chronic disease and condition known to man, including weight gain (Dr. Mercola). Why would you want to be obese and cancer ? thats why people should ditch processed food don't get me wrong there are some processed food that you can eat like breakfast cereal that give you nutrients ,”canned beans, yogurt added with vitamin d, peanut butter, almond butter and frozen vegetable(Joan Salge Blake) those are the processed food you can eat that is good for you and it is okay for you to eat the majority of processed food is bad for you. A list of processed food that you have to ditch White Rice,Cornmeal,Polenta,Flour White flour,Bread,Muffins,Tortillas,Croutons,Macaroni,Pasta,Couscous,Orzo,Cake,Cake,Cookies,Canned, fruit Frozen fruit,Fruit sauces,Jellies,Jams,Pie fillings.Fruit juice,Canned meat,Cured meat,Ham,Lunch meat,Sausage,Bacon,Gelatins,Fresh meat with additive etc the list goes on.There was a little girl who did a experiment on youtube with two potatoes.One pato was organic and the other potato was processed the little girl dipped each potato in a glass of water and left it in for a week.The organic potato grew vines and the other didnt because it had bug nip.According to Mark Denicola “Bud Nip is a plant growth regulator used for the control of grass weeds on several fruit and vegetable plants. In potatoes, such as the sweet potatoes that we conventionally purchase, bud nip is used primarily to inhibit potato sprouting -the exact process that Elise was looking to create as a part of her experiment. On the surface bud nip seems relatively harmless, however certain studies show that it also comes with a fair level of potential side effects -many of which Elise mentions -that do more than an adequate job at justifying the ‘caution’ warning that it is labelled with.
Bud nip is considered moderately toxic for ingestion, an irritant for the eyes and skin and was responsible for a number of side effects and even death on several of the animals that it was tested on. Despite this, bud nip is regularly used directly on an abundance of non-organic produce, and indirectly on other produce due to its highly soluble nature in both soil and groundwater. This could potentially explain how even the organic sweet potato that Elise had purchased from the conventional grocery store did not sprout nearly as impressively as the final one that she had purchased from the organic food market.”This shows that there's a lot of food that are processed not good for you
There are many different ways to avoid processed food but it is hard to cut processed food out of your diet.A simple way is to stop eating fast food and start reading the nutrition facts and eat ingredients you can only pronounce. know What are the ingredients do some research on the the ingredients because if you don't know the ingredients or know how to pronounce them there are most likely processed food. You have to stay away from food that is label as low fat ,reduced fat or extra lite because automatically you will know those food are processed. And overall shop smart and eat organic food.
Organic food is the way to go because organic food is good and has a lot of advantages. “Some people strongly believe that organic food tastes better than non-organic food. The prominent reason for this belief is that it is produced using organic means of production. Furthermore, organic food is often sold locally, resulting in availability of fresh produce in the market, which usually does taste better than produce that has been frozen, shipped, and transported across long distances”.According to ButterflyStar ”Hundreds of gourmet chefs across the nation are choosing organic foods, they taste better, they are more nutritious in vitamins and nutrients. and the quality is superior. Increasing consumers are also buying more because the organic foods taste better”. I definitely think organic food taste better because it is fresh from the soil and its more rich meanwhile processed food from the freezer alway seem to have freezer burn and it taste disgusting and thats why i think organic food taste better.Animal lovers should love organic food because organic farms treat their animal with care and love Animal welfare is an important aspect of producing organic milk,organic meat ,organic poultry, and organic fish. People feel happy that the animals are not confined to a miserable caged life when they eat organic animal products. According to mayo clinic The difference between an Organic Farm and a conventional Farm is that a “conventional Farm Apply chemical fertilizers to promote plant growth and an organic farm Apply chemical fertilizers to promote plant growth.A conventional farm Give animals antibiotics, growth hormones and medications to prevent disease and spur growth an organic farm Give animals organic feed and allow them access to the outdoors. Use preventive measures such as rotational grazing, a balanced diet and clean housing to help minimize disease”.This clearly shows the organic farms do things the natural way and conventional doesn't.( Mayo Clinic Staff)
Organic food is now becoming a big trend and everybody is jumping on the bandwagon. A New York Times article was able to provide facts about how this new way of is booming “ But the organic food business is now big business, and getting bigger. Professor Howard estimates that major corporations now are responsible for at least 25 percent of all organic manufacturing and marketing (40 percent if you count only processed organic foods). Much of the nation’s organic food is as much a part of industrial food production as midwinter grapes, and becoming more so. In 2006, sales of organic foods and beverages totaled about $16.7 billion, according to the most recent figures from Organic Trade Association”(MARK BITTMAN).There are markets that you can buy organic food if you want to join this trend to starting a new healthier lifestyle.These markets include Trader Joe’s,and Whole food or you can go to your local farm.Eating organic food may be on the expensive side but it is worth it.There are other ways to have organic food by growing it in your own backyard growing food in your backyard is very convenient because it saves money. Instead of spending hundreds of dollars and month at the grocery store on foods that don’t really nourish you, spend time in the garden, outside, exercising, learning to grow your own food. Growing your own organic food really does save your money most of the food you need right in your backyard.For example my aunt who lives in florida has a huge green house in her backyard. where she grows most of her food she have a lot of cool things and I asked her how does she gets all of these things she tells me because of the green house save me a whole lot of money because I don't have to spend it on groceries and i don't have to waste gas to take a trip to the grocery store and i have everything i need in my backyard,People who live in the urban area can just rely on the organic grocery store because not all people have backyards or they can take a trip to a farm around their area.These are some food you can grow your self Apples,Strawberries,Grapes,Celery,Peaches,Spinach,Sweet bell peppers,Nectarines,Cucumbers,Cherry tomatoes,Snap peas and Potatoes these will all fresh food from your backyard now who wouldn't want that?.The reason why people don't like processed food and why organic food is expensive “Fertilizers are often made of chemicals to help stimulate growth of non-organic crops. These are often supplemented with other chemicals, such as pesticides, which can help keep the crop as healthy as possible - growing more and more.The reason that people are not happy with these foods is that there will still be traces of the fertilizers and pesticides on the food when we buy them in stores. When you eat the food, you will also be eating a very small amount of these chemicals. There is speculation that these chemicals could be harming our health.
The main difference is that organic foods are not grown using any kind of chemical. There are certain methods that organic farmers will use to ensure the crop doesn't come into contact with potentially harmful chemicals. Since farmers can't grow as much, this is what drives up the cost of organic food’.If you happen to choose to eat organic food do it right by choosing brands that saves you money.According to food babe “ Choose more inexpensive grocery store brand products like Trader Joe’s, Earth Fare, 365 brand, ShopRite, Wegman’s, Kroger, Publix, Harris Teeter. Regardless of the brand, they are all required to follow the same guidelines set forth by the USDA organic certification program if they contain the USDA organic seal and chances are that you won’t be able to tell the difference between a brand name and store brand.
Join grocery store loyalty programs for discounts. For example, if you join Earth Fare’s tomato bank program, you get a dollar back for every 100 points you earn.
Use your rewards cards always. Most convenient stores, grocery stores, and drug stores allow you to sign-up for a rewards or savings card that will help you save money on a few of your items at the checkout counter. Even if this time of purchase does not contain organic food, the extra money that you are saving on your items can be put towards buying it when need be.
Always remember that if you are not satisfied with your organic product, most grocery stores and organic food companies offer you money back guarantee. This also works for companies you bought in the past that you are now boycotting like krafts back to nature.
IF you're going organic you will have to ditch the chip,cookies,ice cream because none of these snacks are organic.If you want to snack on something one brand I recommend is Naturebox.The reason why I recommend naturebox is because it has delicious snacks that are very tasty that you and your family will love. People if you want to be healthy just start eating organic food and stay away from processed food because all processed food is doing is hurting your body.which do you rather would you rather eat chemicals or have no chemicals in your body at all ? I really think people should take organic food into consideration because it is not harming you it is helping you.Eat organic is expensive but it would be worth it trust me.Who doesn't want to be healthy and live longer and look good.
